solidLens processes all documents on-device. No scans, images, or document content are ever transmitted to our servers or any third party.

Overview

solidLens ("the App," "we," "our") is an iOS document scanning application developed by designBlau LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.

The short version: we collect almost nothing, we keep nothing on our servers, and your documents never leave your device without your explicit action.

Data We Collect

solidLens does not collect personal data in the traditional sense. Here is a complete breakdown:

  • Documents and scans — stored only on your device or, if you enable iCloud Sync, in your personal iCloud account. We cannot access them. Deleted scans are held in a local "Recently Deleted" trash for 30 days (or removed immediately, if you turn that off in Settings) before being purged.
  • Camera access — used solely to capture images via Apple's VisionKit scanner. No images are transmitted externally.
  • Photo Library access — only used if you choose to import existing images to scan; solidLens never browses your library on its own.
  • Files access — used only to save exports, or to write into an Obsidian vault folder, at destinations you explicitly choose and grant access to.
  • Contacts — when solidLens detects a business card, it can prefill Apple's own "New Contact" screen with the extracted details. This uses Apple's system contact editor directly — solidLens never requests Contacts permission and never reads or saves anything unless you review the card and tap Save yourself.
  • OCR text — text recognized from your scans (via Apple's on-device Vision framework) is stored alongside each document locally/in your iCloud, purely so you can search your own scans and export the text. It is never transmitted anywhere by us.
  • Crash reports — if you have enabled crash reporting in iOS Settings, Apple may share anonymised crash data with us through App Store Connect. This contains no document content.
  • Analytics — we do not use any third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

How We Use Data

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.

Any anonymised crash data we receive through Apple is used solely to identify and fix software bugs to improve the App's stability.

Third Parties

solidLens uses Apple's VisionKit and Vision frameworks for document detection, capture, and text recognition. All of that processing happens on-device — nothing is sent to Apple or anyone else for this purpose. If you enable iCloud Sync, your scans are stored in your personal iCloud Drive account under Apple's own privacy practices. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for information about how Apple handles iCloud data.

The Obsidian integration saves Markdown notes and images directly to a vault folder you designate on your device or in iCloud Drive. solidLens does not connect to Obsidian's servers or any Obsidian-operated service.

We do not integrate any advertising networks, social login systems, or third-party analytics.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

We encourage you to review this page periodically.
